How to sign a PDF
- Choose Sign PDF free and use Attach PDF to open the document. Read it and locate the correct signature area before adding anything to a page.
- Draw your signature in the signature panel, or choose Upload / Change to select a PNG or JPG image. Choose Use Signature when the appearance is ready.
- Tap or click the PDF to place the signature. Move and resize it to fit the intended area. Use the name and date controls if the document requires those details as well.
- Choose Download PDF when your placement is complete. Open the saved copy, check every relevant page and send it only through the recipient's agreed submission method.
When a visible signature is useful
A permission slip or internal acknowledgment may ask for a signature beside your printed name. A visible mark can suit a document whose recipient accepts signature images. Confirm that expectation: an organization may require its own signing platform, a wet-ink original or a certificate-based signature instead.
Read the document before signing. Check names, dates, amounts, selected options and attached terms. Only place a signature you are authorized to use, and retain the unsigned original when you need a record of what you received.
Make the placement readable
A signature image with generous blank margins can look small when placed on a page. Crop unnecessary margins in the image before using it, and prefer a clear image rather than a blurry screenshot. Position the mark within the signing area without hiding the printed name or nearby instructions. Inspect the exported PDF at a normal reading size; the working preview alone is not your final check.
What this signing tool does not provide
FlowPDF does not issue a signing certificate, validate the signer's identity, invite other signers or produce a managed audit trail. It does not certify that a signature is legally binding or accepted by a particular recipient. A visible mark is different from a cryptographic digital signature, and modifying a previously digitally signed PDF may affect that signature. For regulated, financial or otherwise high-stakes documents, follow the recipient's required signing process rather than assuming an image meets it.
Your document stays on your device
PDF processing happens in the browser, not on a FlowPDF server. Signing is free with no signup. Signature assets may be saved locally by the browser; take care on shared devices and use change or clear controls when appropriate. The privacy policy covers website resources and analytics.
