How to fill a PDF form
- Choose Fill PDF forms free, then use Attach PDF to open the form. Allow the tool to inspect the document and list its supported interactive fields.
- Enter your answers in the displayed text fields. Tick applicable checkboxes and select available choices. Check the field names against the original form so each answer belongs in the right place.
- Decide whether to enable Flatten completed fields. Leave it unchecked when supported fields should remain editable; enable it when you want the completed field appearances merged into the pages.
- Choose Save Filled PDF and download the new copy. Open it in a PDF viewer and review every answer, checkbox and selected option before submitting it to the intended recipient.
Useful forms to complete
A volunteer registration sheet may ask for a name, contact details and available shifts. A supplier onboarding form might use text fields for an address and checkboxes for services. An application can include a dropdown for a department or a single-choice question. These are suitable starting points when the publisher has created actual interactive PDF fields rather than simply drawing lines on the page.
Prepare the information you need before opening the form. Check required sections and instructions in the original document, including whether the recipient expects a signature or supporting attachments. Saving answers does not submit an application or send it to anyone automatically.
Editable fields or a flattened copy?
Keep fields editable if another person needs to finish a section. Flattening merges field appearances into the pages, but does not encrypt the PDF or prevent all changes. Retain an editable original and check the downloaded appearance.
What the form filler does not do
FlowPDF supports common field types, including text, checkboxes and supported choice controls. Complex or unsupported fields may not behave as their author intended. The tool does not create a new interactive form, perform OCR on a scan, or turn blank printed lines into fillable fields. If no fields are found, use Edit PDF to place visible text instead. That adds an overlay, not a new interactive field. Form filling also does not provide certificate-backed digital signing or verify your identity.
Privacy for personal answers
The document and answers are processed in the browser, not uploaded to a FlowPDF server. No account or payment is needed. The privacy policy covers website analytics and external resources. Manage downloaded copies carefully on shared devices, especially forms containing personal details.
