How to redact a PDF securely

  2. Drag over every area that must be removed and review each rectangle.
  3. Export the secure redaction and inspect the downloaded copy.

Why ordinary covering is unsafe

Adding a rectangle, highlight or whiteout layer may only hide the content visually. The underlying text can sometimes still be selected, copied or recovered. Secure redaction rasterizes affected pages and burns the black areas into the result.

Quality and accessibility trade-off

Only pages containing redactions are flattened. Those pages lose selectable text, links and form fields. Unaffected pages are copied normally to preserve their original structure.

Does redaction remove metadata?

The tool removes covered page content, but it is not a complete metadata-sanitization service.

Will redacted pages look different?

They may appear slightly different because affected pages are converted into high-quality flattened images.
